After playing two different versions of Gamora throughout the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Zoe Saldaña has reflected on how different Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3‘s version of the character was.
What did Zoe Saldaña think of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3’s Gamora?
While speaking to Marvel.com, Saldaña spoke about how the Gamora that carried over from Avengers: Endgame has lots in common with the character from the first Guardians of the Galaxy movie. The actress noted that this new version has “a spunk to her” that the other never had.
“I think the Gamora from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 1 will have a lot more in common with the Gamora of Vol. 3 for sure,” Saldaña explained. “I do find this Gamora very exciting because she’s very independent and she’s wild and she’s different. There’s a spunk to her that Gamora never really had, and I hope audiences find that fresh.”
“In the film, our beloved band of misfits are looking a bit different these days,” reads the Marvel Cinematic Universe sequel’s synopsis. “Peter Quill, still reeling from the loss of Gamora, must rally his team around him to defend the universe along with protecting one of their own. A mission that, if not completed successfully, could quite possibly lead to the end of the Guardians as we know them.”
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 was directed by James Gunn and was released in theaters on May 5. The sequel heavily features the backstory of Rocket — the armed and snarky raccoon voiced by Bradley Cooper — and his history with the film’s villain, The High Evolutionary (played by Chukwudi Iwuji). Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is now playing in theaters.
