Joker: Folie á Deux post-production update

Joker 2 Is Nearly Finished, Cinematographer Calls It a ‘Big Swing’

Joker: Folie á Deux is nearly finished with post-production, accorting to cinematographer Lawrence Sher.

In a recent interview with Definition Magazine, Sher provided an update on Todd Phillips‘ Joker: Folie á Deux, which is scheduled to be released in October 2024 from Warner Bros. Pictures. “Something I appreciate about Todd Phillips — who I’ve done seven movies with, including Joker — is that he’s always taking risks,” Sher said. “We’ve got the new Joker coming out next year and we’re just finishing up post-production on it. This movie is a big swing and it’s going to be really surprising to people. I’m so excited for everyone to see it.”

What do we know about Joker: Folie á Deux?

Joker: Folie á Deux will see Joaquin Phoenix reprise his role as the Clown Prince of Crime following his Oscar-winning performance in 2019’s Joker. Also starring in the movie is Lady Gaga, who is playing Harley Quinn.

In June 2022, The Hollywood Reporter broke the news that Joker: Folie á Deux will be a musical. Filming officially wrapped on the movie prior to the start of the Writers Guild of America (WGA) and Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA) strikes in April 2023.

Along with Phoenix and Lady Gaga, Zazie Beetz will reprise her role as Sophie Dumond in Joker: Folie á Deux. Brendan Gleeson, Catherine Keener, Jacob Lofland, and Harry Lawtey have additionally been cast in the movie in undisclosed roles.

Earlier this month, on October 4, 2023, Phillips shared an image of Phoenix’s Arthur Fleck staring up at the sky during the middle of a rainstorm. Phillips’ caption read, “Oct. 4[.] Thanks for all the messages. Four years ago we had quite a ride. Lots of great memories. More to come.”

Joker: Folie á Deux hits United States theaters on October 4, 2024.
