Taraja Ramsess — who worked on Marvel Studios productions including Black Panther, Avengers: Infinity War, and Avengers: Endgame as a stunt performer and set dresser — died in a motor vehicle accident along with three of his children. The crash took place in Atlanta, GA on October 31.
Per The Hollywood Reporter, the accident occurred when the vehicle carrying Ramsess and his children struck a broken down tractor trailer on an exit ramp near midnight. Ramsess was 41. His daughter Sundari was 13, his son Kisasi was 10, and his daughter Fujibo was eight weeks old. Two other children survived the accident, including a three-year-old daughter named Shazia, who is currently recovering in the hospital.
Ramsess’ mother Akili Ramsess posted to her Instagram account on Thursday and then Saturday to announce the deaths, as Kisasi had been on life support after the accident and died in the hospital. Akili Ramsess shared family photos of all the deceased in her posts, highlighting happy moments, and also included a frame from Black Panther, which shows Ramsess in the background playing a Wakandan warrior.
“All who knew and met him know how special Taraja was,” Akili Ramsess wrote in the first post. “He had a deep capacity for love and loved his children more than all. He loved his martial arts, motorcycles and all things related to filmmaking. He a very droll yet wicked sense of humor & yet could be as cornball corny as can be.”
In addition to his work in Marvel, Ramsess was a stunt performer in major productions such as DC’s The Suicide Squad and Black Adam. As a set dresser, he had credits in Fast Five, Furious 7, and The Hunger Games: Catching Fire. He also worked on the beloved TV series The Vampire Diaries, The Walking Dead, and Constantine.
