Marvel Studios has released the final official trailer for its fast-approaching feature film The Marvels.
Ahead of the film’s worldwide premiere this Friday, Marvel debuted the final trailer for The Marvels during the Monday Night Football game between the Los Angeles Chargers and the New York Jets. The trailer opens on footage from previous Marvel Cinematic Universe films and echoes Nick Fury‘s (Samuel L. Jackson) belief that heroes are an “old-fashioned notion” — but that “the world could still use them.” The former S.H.I.E.L.D. director enlists Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel (Brie Larson) for “one last fight.” And this time, she has some new allies.
Check out the final trailer for The Marvels below:
In The Marvels, Carol joins forces with estranged niece Monica Rambeau (Teyonah Parris) and super-fan turned hero Kamala Khan/Ms. Marvel (Iman Vellani). The three heroes face off against Dar-Benn (Zawe Ashton), a Kree revolutionary who opens a gateway to an alternate reality.
What to expect from The Marvels
Candyman helmer Nia DaCosta directed The Marvels from a screenplay she co-wrote with Megan McDonnell and Elissa Karasik. The film serves as a sequel to Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck’s 2019 MCU movie Captain Marvel. It also directly follows up on the events of the 2022 Disney+ series Ms. Marvel.
An official synopsis for The Marvels reads as follows: “…Carol Danvers aka Captain Marvel has reclaimed her identity from the tyrannical Kree and taken revenge on the Supreme Intelligence. But unintended consequences see Carol shouldering the burden of a destabilized universe. When her duties send her to an anomalous wormhole linked to a Kree revolutionary, her powers become entangled with that of Jersey City super-fan Kamala Khan, aka Ms. Marvel, and Carol’s estranged niece, now S.A.B.E.R. astronaut Captain Monica Rambeau. Together, this unlikely trio must team up and learn to work in concert to save the universe as ‘The Marvels.’”
The Marvels opens in theaters this Friday, November 10.
