Warner Bros. has bumped up Dune: Part Two’s release date by two weeks.
Per Deadline, Warner Bros. and Legendary Entertainment have officially shifted the release date for Dune: Part Two. While the movie was supposed to come out on March 15, 2024, it has been bumped up two weeks and will now begin playing in United States theaters on March 1, 2024.
Prior to the March 2024 date, Dune: Part Two was originally scheduled for October 20, 2023. It was delayed until November 17, 2023, before then moving up to November 3, 2023. In August 2023, however, the movie was pushed back to 2024 because of the Writers Guild of America (WGA) and Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA) strikes for better wages, protection against AI, and more.
Who stars in Dune: Part Two?
Serving as a sequel to 2021’s Dune, Dune: Part Two is directed by Denis Villeneuve, who also co-wrote the screenplay with Jon Spaihts. Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, Rebecca Ferguson, Josh Brolin, Dave Bautista, Stellan Skarsgård, Javier Bardem, Stephen McKinley Henderson, and Charlotte Rampling are all reprising their roles from the first movie, while Austin Butler, Florence Pugh, Christopher Walken, and Léa Seydoux have also joined the cast.
Villeneuve produces the film with Mary Parent, Cale Boyter, Tanya Lapointe, and Patrick McCormick.
“This follow-up film will explore the mythic journey of Paul Atreides as he unites with Chani and the Fremen while on a warpath of revenge against the conspirators who destroyed his family,” reads the synopsis. “Facing a choice between the love of his life and the fate of the known universe, he endeavors to prevent a terrible future only he can foresee.”
Based on Frank Herbert’s novel, Dune: Part Two hits United States theaters on March 1, 2024, from Warner Bros. and Legendary Entertainment.
