Zack Snyder isn’t opposed to the idea of directing a Fortnite movie.
Speaking with Etalk, Man of Steel and Rebel Moon director Zack Snyder was asked if he’d ever be interested in creating a cinematic Fortnite universe at some point in the future.
“I mean, of course,” he answered. “I really wanted to make some Fortnite skins for [Rebel Moon], first of all, just as the most obviously basic involvement. But, yeah, Fortnite is an amazing world and it’s an amazing distraction, for me. It’s really cool. The alchemy they’ve created there is really unique. When I started playing it, I thought I knew what it was and then it was something entirely different.”
“You definitely don’t know,” he added. “You definitely can say never say never. That’s my mantra in this business.”
You might have been playing Fortnite with Zack Snyder
Speaking with WIRED in November 2023, Snyder said that his wife, Deborah Snyder, recently got him into pottery after he’d been playing too much Fortnite. “I’m pretty good at Fortnite, actually. But it was also, you know, 3 in the morning, and my wife is like, ‘Are you seriously playing Fortnite at 3 in the morning against some 12-year-olds?’”
He added, “My skin is Mr. Meeseeks, from Rick and Morty. Anyway, if you’ve been killed by Meeseeks, that could have been Zack Snyder.”
Snyder’s new movie, Rebel Moon (also known as Rebel Moon – Part One: A Child of Fire), has an ensemble cast that includes Sofia Boutella, Charlie Hunnam, Djimon Hounsou, Ray Fisher, Jena Malone, Anthony Hopkins, Ed Skrein, and Michiel Huisman.
Rebel Moon is currently playing in limited theaters in United States theaters. It is scheduled to debut on Netflix on December 21, 2023. A sequel, Rebel Moon – Part Two: The Scargiver, is planned to be released in April 2024.
