Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom red carpet

Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom Isn’t Getting a Red Carpet Premiere

Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, the final film in the DCEU, isn’t getting a red carpet premiere.

Per ComicBook.com, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom won’t have a massive red carpet premiere ahead of the film’s upcoming release. Instead, Jason Momoa and director James Wan are merely attending a handful of small fan events to celebrate the final film in the DCEU.

The Hollywood Reporter’s Boris Kit wrote in a tweet, “And thus the DCEU ends, not with a bang but a whimper. No red carpet premiere, no afterparty, just a small (but neat) pre-reception, a ‘fan screening,’ and only Jason Momoa and James Wan at the Grove to close out a veritable era…”

What is Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom about?

“Having failed to defeat Aquaman the first time, Black Manta, still driven by the need to avenge his father’s death, will stop at nothing to take Aquaman down once and for all,” the official synopsis reads. “This time Black Manta is more formidable than ever before, wielding the power of the mythic Black Trident, which unleashes an ancient and malevolent force. To defeat him, Aquaman will turn to his imprisoned brother Orm, the former King of Atlantis, to forge an unlikely alliance. Together, they must set aside their differences in order to protect their kingdom and save Aquaman’s family, and the world, from irreversible destruction.”

Along with Momoa, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom stars Patrick Wilson as Orm, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as Black Manta, Amber Heard as Mera, Nicole Kidman as Atlanna, Dolph Lundgren as King Nereus, and Randall Park as Dr. Stephen Shin.

The film is produced by Peter Safran, Wan, and Rob Cowan, while Galen Vaisman and Walter Hamada serve as executive producers. Following Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, Safran and James Gunn are creating a new DCU that begins in 2024 with an animated Creature Commandos series.

Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom releases in theaters on December 20, 2023.
