A new report suggests that the Madame Web runtime could be one of Sony Pictures’ longest-running superhero films.
According to Norwegian ticketing company FilmWeb (via The Direct), the Madame Web runtime is set for 1 hour and 56 minutes, which would make it the longest film in Sony’s Spider-Man Universe so far. Currently, the longest film set in the universe is the original Venom film, which clocks in at 1 hour and 52 minutes long.
While not fully confirmed, fans won’t have to wait too long, as Madame Web is set to arrive in theaters on February 14, 2024.
What is Madame Web about?
Madame Web is directed by S.J. Clarkson (Jessica Jones) from a screenplay written by Morbius scribes Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless. The film is led by Dakota Johnson as the titular Spider-Man character. Joining Johnson are Sydney Sweeney (Euphoria), Celeste O’Connor (Ghostbusters: Afterlife), Isabela Merced (Transformers: The Last Knight), and Emma Roberts (American Horror Story), along with Golden Globe nominee Tahar Rahim, Mike Epps (The Upshaws), and Adam Scott (Severance).
“In a switch from the typical genre, Madame Web tells the standalone origin story of one of Marvel publishing’s most enigmatic heroines,” says the synopsis. “The suspense-driven thriller stars Dakota Johnson as Cassandra Webb, a paramedic in Manhattan who may have clairvoyant abilities. Forced to confront revelations about her past, she forges a relationship with three young women destined for powerful futures . . . if they can all survive a deadly present.”
