Dakota Johnson completed a lot of driving-related stunt training for Sony’s Madame Web; however, she wasn’t actually allowed to film any “crazy things” when working on the upcoming superhero movie.
Appearing on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Johnson was asked if she was excited about doing her own stunts in Madame Web, the next film in Sony’s Spider-Man Universe.
“There’s a lot of driving in the movie,” Johnson answered. “My character, Cassie, does a lot of driving. I did some stunt training for driving and I loved it so much. I learned to do some crazy things that they actually didn’t let me do in the movie, which was so annoying.”
Johnson proceeded to show off a video, which can be viewed below (begins at the 9:48 minute mark), that shows her doing an impressive driving stunt. “That’s how I parallel park now,” Johnson joked after the video.
What is Madame Web about?
“Meanwhile, in another universe…In a switch from the typical genre, Madame Web tells the standalone origin story of one of Marvel publishing’s most enigmatic heroines,” the official synopsis reads. “The suspense-driven thriller stars Dakota Johnson as Cassandra Webb, a paramedic in Manhattan who may have clairvoyant abilities. Forced to confront revelations about her past, she forges a relationship with three young women destined for powerful futures…if they can all survive a deadly present.”
Johnson plays Cassandra “Cassie” Web in Madame Web, which is directed and co-written by S. J. Clarkson. The movie also stars Sydney Sweeney as Julia Cornwall, Celeste O’Connor as Mattie Franklin, Isabela Merced as Anya Corazon, and Tahar Rahim as Ezekiel Sims, while Mike Epps, Emma Roberts, Adam Scott, and Zosia Mamet are all playing undisclosed roles.
Madame Web releases in United States theaters on February 14, 2024, as part of Sony’s Spider-Man Universe.
