Fantastic Four: Pedro Pascal Hypes Cast and Playing Reed Richards

Following the announcement of his casting as the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Reed Richards, actor Pedro Pascal makes his first public comments about The Fantastic Four reboot.

“I know, it’s too much. I can’t tell you how excited I am, which is beyond,” Pascal said to Entertainment Tonight during the 2024 SAG-AFTRA Awards. “There isn’t anything more exciting than being in a cast like that, Vanessa Kirby, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Joe Quinn, and our director Matt Shakman, and to be invited into a family like that is unbelievable and we all just want to do our best and share it with the world.”

Pascal’s name was linked to Reed Richards since last November when reports circulated that The Mandalorian star was set to join Marvel’s First Family. Though his casting was confirmed on the SAG-AFTRA Foundation’s website, Marvel Studios did not make it official until they unveiled their ’60s-themed concept art on Valentine’s Day. Pascal celebrated the announcement by resharing the photo on social media with Valentine’s Day wishes from their “family” to everyone’s.

What is The Fantastic Four about?

Plot details for The Fantastic Four remain under wraps. But the era of the upcoming MCU installment has been teased to be set in the early ’60s based on the artwork featuring Ben Grimm/The Thing reading a Life Magazine issue with then-U.S. President Lyndon Johnson. Additionally, reports regarding the movie’s villains have speculated that Javier Bardem (Dune) has been in talks to play Galactus while Doctor Doom is rumored to appear in a cameo rather than a leading role.

Directed by Shakman from a screenplay by Josh Friedman, The Fantastic Four is scheduled for release on July 25, 2025./e
