Second Movie in Matthew Vaughn’s Kick-Ass Trilogy Gets New Title, Director Revealed

The second film in Matthew Vaughn’s new Kick-Ass trilogy will reportedly be called The Stuntman.

Per Variety, production is well underway on the second film in Vaughn’s new Kick-Ass trilogy. While Vaughn previously referred to the movie as Vram when speaking with Collider, Variety reports that the movie will now be called The Stuntmant.

The movie is being directed by Damien Walters and will tell “the story of two brothers who both become stuntmen.” The Stuntman comes from Vaughn’s Marv Studios banner and Walters’ Zebbo Productions.

What is Matthew Vaughn’s new Kick-Ass trilogy?

In October 2023, Vaughn revealed that a Kick-Ass reboot was in the works. “Kick-Ass changed people’s perception of what a superhero film is,” he told Entertainment Weekly at the time. “We’re doing it again. None of the other characters from the other Kick-Ass are in it, though we’d like to have them back after the reboot. I can’t really talk about it, but it’s fun!”

Vaughn then told Collider in January 2024 that the Kick-Ass reboot will actually be the third entry in a new trilogy of movies.

The first movie in the trilogy, which has already been filmed, will be called School Fight. Walters also directed School Fight, which tells “the story of a teenager who gets into a fight with a love rival at school.”

Vaughn explained, “The trilogy will be School Fight, this movie — let’s call it Vram for the time being — and then [the] Kick-Ass [reboot], and they’re all connected,” Further plot details remain under wraps for the new trilogy of movies, and casting has not been announced at this time.

Regarding the Kick-Ass reboot, Vaughn also said, “We’re halfway through it. There’s a very, very dare I say it… and it’s gonna be a cliche coming out of this head of mine. It is a very, very meta-universe. It is what, you know, Kick-Ass was reinventing and creating an R-rated superhero and no one was really doing it. This is taking that whole concept to a worthy…not even a sequel because I think it’s just a whole new way of doing Kick-Ass, which couldn’t be more Kick-Ass.”

Release dates for School Fight and The Stuntman have not yet been announced.
