The first trailer for Alien: Romulus has been released.
The Alien: Romulus trailer gives fans their first official look at the next chapter in the Alien franchise, which began in 1979 with Ridley Scott’s Alien.

Who stars in Alien: Romulus?
Alien: Romulus stars Cailee Spaeny (Priscilla, Civil War), Isabela Merced (Madame Web, Superman), David Jonsson (Industry), Archie Renaux (Shadow and Bone, Morbius), Spike Fearn (The Batman, Tell Me Everything), and Aileen Wu.
Alien: Romulus is directed by Fede Alvarez, who previously made 2013’s Evil Dead remake, 2016’s Don’t Breathe, and 2018’s The Girl in the Spider’s Web. Alvarez also co-wrote the screenplay with Rodo Sayagues, while Scott is producing the movie.
Alien: Romulus is set between the events of Alien and 1986’s Aliens, which was directed by James Cameron. The synopsis for the film reads: “While scavenging the deep ends of a derelict space station, a group of young space colonizers come face to face with the most terrifying life form in the universe
A number of sequels and crossover spin-offs followed Cameron’s Aliens. David Fincher directed Alien 3 in 1992, which was then followed by Alien Resurrection, directed by Jean-Pierre Jeunet, in 1997.
The series then crossed over with the Predator franchise, first with 2004’s Alien vs. Predator, which was directed by Paul W. S. Anderson, and then with the sequel, 2007’s Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem, directed by Greg and Colin Strause.
Scott returned to the franchise in 2012 with Prometheus, which was followed by 2017’s Alien: Covenant.
In addition to Alien: Romulus, an Alien television series is also in the works from Noah Hawley. Expected to be released on FX on Hulu in 2025, the series stars Sydney Chandler, Alex Lawther, Samuel Blenkin, Essie Davis, Adarsh Gourav, Kit Young, Timothy Olyphant, David Rysdahl, Babou Ceesay, Jonathan Ajayi, Erana James, Kily Newmark, Diêm Camille, and Adrian Edmondson.
Alien: Romulus releases on August 16, 2024, from 20th Century Studios.
