James Mangold’s Star Wars Movie Nabs Andor Writer

The upcoming Star Wars movie from Logan director James Mangold has found a co-writer, and it’s one who has some experience with the franchise.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Beau Willimon is set to serve as co-writer on the forthcoming Star Wars film. In addition to writing several episodes of the Netflix series House of Cards and two episodes of the sci-fi drama The First, Willimon wrote three episodes of the first season of the Disney+ show Andor — “Narkina 5,” “Nobody’s Listening,” and “One Way Out.”

When will James Mangold’s Star Wars movie be set?

James Mangold’s Star Wars movie, which has the working title of Star Wars: Dawn of the Jedi, will be set thousands of years before the events of George Lucas’ A New Hope. This marks Mangold’s latest collaboration with Lucasfilm after directing the fifth and final installment to the Indiana Jones franchise, Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny.

In other Star Wars news from today, the upcoming film centered on The Mandalorian — The Mandalorian & Grogu — got an official release date from Disney. Announced in January 2024, The Mandalorian & Grogu is being directed by Jon Favreau. Favreau is also producing the movie alongside Kathleen Kennedy and Dave Filoni.
