DCU Superman Movie Finds Its Pa Kent

Another key role in James Gunn‘s Superman has been cast, as the upcoming DC Universe movie has found its Pa Kent.

The Wrap has reported that Pruitt Taylor Vince has been cast in the role of Jonathan “Pa” Kent — the adoptive father of Kal-El/Clark Kent — in Superman. This isn’t technically the actor’s first time in a DC project, as he previously played the role of Father Hennessey in the 2005 film Constantine. On the Marvel side of things, he played the character Grill in Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

Other actors who have played the role of Pa Kent include Kevin Costner in the DCEU film Man of Steel, Glenn Ford in the 1978 film Superman, and John Schneider in the television series Smallville.

Who else is in the DCU Superman movie?

The titular role in Superman is being played by David Corenswet (Pearl, The Politician), while Lois Lane will be played by The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel star Rachel Brosnahan. They’re joined by Nicholas Hoult, Skyler Gisondo, María Gabriela De Faría, Sara Sampaio, Isabela Merced, Nathan Fillion, Edi Gathegi, Anthony Carrigan, and more. The film is set to release on July 11, 2025.

The DC Universe’s first phase, called Chapter One: Gods and Monsters, will feature a multitude of different movies and television shows. A few of the announced projects include a Batman and Robin-focused movie called The Brave and the Bold, a Supergirl movie titled Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, a Swamp Thing film, and multiple TV shows.
