A release date has been announced for Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow.
Per Deadline, Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow will be released in United States theaters on June 26, 2026. There are currently no other films scheduled to be released on the same day.
What do we know about Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow?
Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow will be the second feature film entry in James Gunn and Peter Safran’s forthcoming DCU following 2025’s Superman. House of the Dragon’s Milly Alcock will play the role of Supergirl/Kara Zor-El, while additional casting has not yet been announced.
The film will be directed by Craig Gillespie, who is known for making 2007’s Lars and the Real Girl, 2011’s Fright Night, 2017’s I, Tonya, 2021’s Cruella, and, most recently, 2023’s Dumb Money.
With the screenplay coming from Ana Nogueira, Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow is based on the 2022 comic book series of the same name by Tom King and Bilquis Evely.
“Kara Zor-El has seen some epic adventures over the years, but finds her life without meaning or purpose,” the solicitation for Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow #1 reads. “Here she is, a young woman who saw her planet destroyed and was sent to Earth to protect a baby cousin who ended up not needing her. What was it all for? Wherever she goes, people only see her through the lens of Superman’s fame. Just when Supergirl thinks she’s had enough, everything changes. An alien girl seeks her out for a vicious mission. Her world has been destroyed, and the bad guys responsible are still out there. She wants revenge, and if Supergirl doesn’t help her, she’ll do it herself, whatever the cost. Now a Kryptonian, a dog, and an angry, heartbroken child head out into space on a journey that will shake them to their very core.”
