Alan Cumming has decided to pull out of Julie Taymor’s upcoming broadway show "Spider-Man Turn Off the Dark." Cumming, who played Nightcrawler in X2: X-Men United, was set to play the Green Goblin, but was going to be unable to do both the show and his beefed-up presence on CBS’ "The Good Wife."
"He’s disappointed," said Cumming’s representative. "He’s been attached to Spider-Man for a year and he was hopeful that it would make it to the stage and he’d be a part of it."
Evan Rachel Wood was to have played Mary Jane Watson, but she dropped out last month. Reeve Carney is still attached to play Peter Parker/Spider-Man.
The show will feature music and lyrics by U2’s Bono and The Edge.
