Zetumer, who wrote the currently-unproduced spy thriller Infiltrator and who worked on versions of Dune and other high-profile genre films, will work alongside director Jose Padilha to remake the 1987 Paul Verhoeven film.
Like the original, the new film will tell the story of a police officer who, after nearly being killed in the line of duty, is rebuilt as a crime-fighting cyborg. The Verhoeven original spawned two sequels and multiple television series spinoffs.
