KS: You’re shooting a movie called R.I.P.D., with Ryan Reynolds, Kevin Bacon, and Jeff Bridges. What’s that about?
MM: Yeah, I’m super pumped. They’re all cops in the underworld, and they’re dead. When they have to go to Earth, I play Jeff’s avatar. So it was kind of a crazy experience, because I had to have his inflections, the way he talked and everything.
KS: Cool. You should get [Bridges] out on the water! He likes to surf.
MM: Yeah, that’s awesome. It gives us something to talk about.
The film, directed by Robert Schwentke, is based on the Dark Horse mini-series. “R.I.P.D.” (short for “Rest In Peace Department”) is Peter Lenkov’s comedic amalgam of the police and zombie genres featuring two dead police officers whose job it is to help the dead “rest in peace.” The studio is planning a June 28, 2013 release.
