New Thorin Oakenshield Photo and The Hobbit 48 fps Pricing

Following the new calendar images and new photo of Richard Armitage as Thorin Oakenshield in The Hobbit films, comes another photo of Thorin with his Elven sword named Orcrist (via CB Swords). You can check it out below.

In related news, The Hollywood Reporter says that Warner Bros. Pictures has received assurances from exhibitors that they are not planning on asking moviegoers to pay an additional surcharge to see the films in 48 frames per second. While theaters charge more for 3D movies, they are not going to do the same for screenings in the higher rate than the usual 24 frames per second.

When the first film opens on December 14, most theaters will play the movie at 24 fps. A 3D 48 fps version of the movie will be made available in all major markets, but only select theaters are expected to offer the option. IMAX will also have a number of theaters playing a 48 fps 3D version of the film.
