Comics: Geoff Johns Stepping Down From Green Lantern

“I’m really proud of all the stuff we’ve built with Green Lantern – from Larfleeze to the different corps,” Johns said in an interview. “The universe has expanded and will live well past my run. It was more than just telling another story, but really giving back to the character by expanding and adding to their mythology.”

Johns will conclude his run on the series with issue #20, which will be a 64-page ‘monster of a story.’

“It really, for me, ties everything else and ends the Green Lantern saga,” Johns said of the 64-page issue. “This story the way the story evolves. I think people will get a sense of finality from it.”

He will continue working for DC, but will be turning his focus to writing Justice League, Justice League of America, and Aquaman.

Johns began working on the character with 2004’s “Green Lantern: Rebirth.” He has since gone on to pen “The Sinestro Corps. Wars,” the “Blackest Night” mini-series and the “Brightest Day” follow-up.
