Assassin’s Creed Gets New Screenwriting Talent with Exodus: Gods and Kings Pair

The upcoming big screen adaptation of the hit video game franchise Assassin’s Creed has scored two new writers. Deadline reports that Bill Collage and Adam Cooper, best known for their work on Ridley Scott’s upcoming biblical epic Exodus: Gods and Kings, will rewrite Michael Lesslie’s adapted screenplay. Michael Fassbender remains attached to headline and produce.

The original game involves Desmond Miles, captured by a secret organization with ties to the Knight Templar who repeatedly send Miles back in time into the body of his assassin ancestors to retrieve valuable historical artifacts, the first time going back to the Crusades.

No director is, as of yet, attached to Assassin’s Creed, although recent rumors have named Safe House helmer Daniel Espinosa a likely candidate. With a release date set for August 7, 2015, expect an official confirmation in the very near future.
