Twentieth Century Fox’s latest “X-Men” feature, X-Men: Days of Future Past, is already off to an explosive start, bringing $8.1 million from Thursday previews from 2900 screens. The film will debut on an additional 1,000 screens today and is expected to bring in more than $100 million over the four-day holiday. Last week’s blockbuster Godzilla did debut to more on Thursday, to the tune of $9.3 million, though $2.1 million of that came from IMAX screens.
X-Men: The Last Stand still holds the title of biggest opener in the franchise having earned $122.8 million over the 2006 Memorial Day weekend.
