Marvel Animation, LOTR, and More Head To Comic-Con on Friday, July 22

If you thought Comic-Con’s Day 1 schedule was jam-packed, you’re in for much bigger surprises on Day 2. The full programming list for Friday, July 22 has been posted on the event’s official website. Among other exciting panels, we can expect new looks at several highly-anticipated TV shows, including The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, X-Men ’97 from Marvel Animation, and a lot more.

Hall H will open its doors at 10:30am on Friday to give fans a fresh glimpse at Amazon’s uber-expensive Lord of the Rings series. In addition to showrunners JD Payne and Patrick McKay and executive producer Lindsey Weber, the panel will feature a whopping 21 cast members from the show as they (presumably) screen new footage from Prime Video’s return to Middle-earth.

At 12:30, Hall H will host the cast and crew of Tales of the Walking Dead, AMC’s new anthology series that explores the zombie apocalypse from multiple different angles. But this isn’t the only dose of undead mayhem we’re getting on Friday. The creative team behind the flagship Walking Dead series will storm the room at 1:30pm to discuss the show’s impending conclusion. As a bonus, they will also debut a new trailer for the final episodes.

Later on, at 3pm, Keanu Reeves will visit Hall H to talk about his BRZRKR comic book series with co-writer Matt Kindt. The pair will be joined onstage by BOOM! Studios editor-in-chief Matt Gagnon, executive editor Eric Harburn, and president of development Stephen Christy. Screenwriter Mattson Tomlin will also discuss his work on the BRZRKR film adaptation for Netflix.

The cast and crew of Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero are getting their own Hall H panel at 4:30pm. They will also screen the film’s first 20 minutes and hand out free items to the panel’s audience. Finally, Collider’s Steven Weintraub is hosting a panel all about the trials and tribulations of filmmaking with directors Tim Miller (Deadpool), Andrew Stanton (Finding Nemo), and Chad Stahelski (John Wick). That panel kicks off at 6pm.

Several additional panels will preview upcoming video games like MultiVersus and TV shows including Gremlins: Secrets of the Mogwai and Transformers: EarthSpark. Amazon’s Paper Girls adaptation will also be discussed in Ballroom 20. Plus, Green Lantern: Beware My Power will have its world premiere in the same room at 6:30pm. But one of the day’s biggest attractions is a panel spotlighting Marvel Studios’ animated slate. Of course, this is separate from the studio’s much bigger Hall H presentation scheduled for later that weekend. Regardless, Brad Winderbaum (Marvel’s head of streaming, television, and animation) will appear alongside head of visual development Ryan Meinerding to preview many long-awaited projects like X-Men ’97, Marvel Zombies, and What If…? season 2.

Big-name franchises like Star Wars and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles will have a presence at the event as well. Lucasfilm Publishing will preview the next wave of Star Wars novels with several authors in tow. Meanwhile, filmmakers associated with the TMNT movie series will reflect on the franchise’s history and tease what the future holds.

San Diego Comic-Con will take place from July 20-24. You can view the full list of Friday programming here.
