Ever since 2012’s Dredd 3D failed to find an audience at the box office, and made up for it on the home video market, fans have been very vocal about wanting a sequel to the film. Now, it seems fans will be getting their wish, sort of.
TheWrap brings word that Dredd executive producer Adi Shankar has secretly filmed a seven-part miniseries that will serve as an unofficial spin-off of the film. Available online later this month, the mini-series will focus on the “Dark Judges” from the source material, whom screenwriter Alex Garland often teased would be the focus of a sequel. Consisting of Judge Death, Judge Fire, Judge Fear and Judge Mortis, the group often came to blows against both Judges Dredd and Anderson in the pages of 2000AD.
Much like Shankar’s previously-released Punisher short starring Thomas Janes, the upcoming “Dark Judges” series is not officially related to the original film in question but is intended as more of a treat for fans. Check back later this month to see the web series when it debuts!
