Mark Millar Partnering with Lorenzo di Bonaventura for Jupiter’s Legacy

The Hollywood Reporter brings word that Mark Millar has partnered with legendary producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura (Transformers, G.I. Joe) to bring the comic series Jupiter’s Legacy, which he co-created with Frank Quietly, to the big screen. The project is currently searching for writers.

The five-issue series wrapped up earlier this year with a prequel series, Jupiter’s Circle, set to debut its first issue today. The series is officially described as follows:

“The children of the world’s greatest superheroes may never be able to fill their parents’ shoes. When the family becomes embattled by infighting, one branch stages an uprising and another goes into hiding. How long can the world survive when one family’s super-powered problems explode onto the global stage?”

Millar previously compared the series to Lord of the Rings and Star Wars, saying It’s a story I’ve been thinking about for the past five years. It’s a massively ambitious project and planned as an enormous trilogy, the first one being I think the best thing I’ve ever written…What I’m proposing here is a universe of characters, who have been around for a while and a vast network and world we can play with…This kind of scale, this event-level storyline, is something I don’t think I’d have been ready for before. This is what I’ve been buidling to.”

This marks the second collaboration between Millar and di Bonaventura as the pair is also shepherding an adaptation of his mini-series MPH for the big screen.
