It’s Official: Meg LeFauve and Nicole Perlman Set as Captain Marvel Writers!

First rumored last week, Marvel Studios has gone and made it official, setting screenwriters Nicole Perlman (Guardians of the Galaxy) and Meg LeFauve (Inside Out) to script the big screen adventures of Carol Danvers in Marvel Studios’ 2018 release, Captain Marvel

In the Marvel Comics 616 continuity, Danvers made her first appearance in 1968’s “Marvel Super-Heroes” #13. A Security Chief in the US air force, Danvers would later be transformed  into the superhero Ms. Marvel following an explosion involving Kree technology. More recently, Danvers took on the identity of Captain Marvel after being “promoted” to the moniker of the former Kree superhero.

Little is known regarding Marvel’s specific plans for Captain Marvel outside of the fact that the film will feature the Danvers version of the character. It was confirmed over the weekend that a Captain Marvel cameo was, at one point, part of the script for Joss Whedon’s Avengers: Age of Ultron. Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige explained that the decision was ultimately made not to rush her appearance. As such, no actress has currently been cast in the lead and no director has yet been announced.

Captain Marvel hits the big screen November 2, 2018. It marks the third Marvel Studios feature for the year, following Avengers: Infinity War Part I in May and Black Panther in July.
