Laura Vandervoort Joins the Cast of Supergirl!

Former Supergirl Laura Vandervoort joins the cast of Supergirl

Straight from the Television Critics Association press tour, CBS has announced that Laura Vandervoort, who played Kara/Supergirl on the long-running hit series Smallville, has been tapped for the recurring role of Indigo, described by producers as a living, strong-willed supercomputer that was sentenced to Fort Rozz after turning against the people of Krypton. Now on Earth, Indigo will let nothing stand in her way. This marks the second former Supergirl to take on a role in the CBS series after Helen Slater.

Another new addition to the cast includes Jeff Branson (The Young and the Restless) in the recurring role of Master Jailer. As the forceful and unrelenting jail guard on Fort Rozz, Master Jailer showed no mercy. Now on Earth, he is hellbent on catching all of the Fort Rozz escapees and brutally bringing them to justice.

Finally, it was revealed that an upcoming episode of Supergirl will take inspiration from Alan Moore’s classic Superman story “For The Man Who Has Everything,” a story that saw Superman living in a dream state where Krypton did not explode and he lived out his life on his home planet, with the show’s thirteenth episode, which will be titled “For the Girl Who has Everything.”

Melissa Benoist leads the cast of Supergirl season one as the title character with a cast that also includes Mehcad Brooks as James Olsen, Laura Benanti as Alura Zor-El, Calista Flockhart as Cat Grant, Chyler Leigh as Alexandra “Alex” Danvers, Jeremy Jordan as Winslow “Winn” Schott, Jenna Dewan Tatum as Lucy Lane (sister of Lois), David Harewood as Hank Henshaw, Peter Facinelli as Maxwell Lord, with Dean Cain and Helen Slater.
