The Hollywood Reporter brings word that Warner Bros.’ planned film of The Flash has lost its director, Seth Grahame-Smith, citing creative differences over the project. Grahame-Smith, the screenwriter of Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter and previous drafts of Beetlejuice 2, was set to make his directorial debut with the film, which has a treatment written by The LEGO Movie directors Phil Lord and Christopher Miller.
Ezra Miller (We Need to Talk About Kevin, The Perks of Being a Wallflower) is set to star as the fastest man alive, Barry Allen, aka The Flash, in the film which is scheduled to be released on March 16, 2018. The actor made his debut as the character in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, both in his civilian gear and a version of the character’s costume, offering a warning to Ben Affleck’s Batman.
“I’d like the character to have many dimensions,” Miller previously said of the film. “But really, I’d like him to have the usual dimensions we know and love, and then some extra ones that are part of the amazing consideration of this superhero. I hope to realize him as a person, and I think what’s most exciting for me in superhero mythologies is when we feel the humanity of someone who is heroic — or the heroism of someone who is a flawed, deeply human person.”
Miller is reprising his role in the upcoming Justice League film which is shooting now in London with director Zack Snyder at the helm.
