It’s a Bird! It’s a Plane! It’s Supergirl Season 2!

Supergirl season 2 is happening, but the DC Comics series will move from CBS to The CW

There’s some good news breaking right now for fans of DC Comics‘ Maid of Might. Supergirl season 2 has been officially confirmed by DC Entertainment and Warner Bros. Television. There’s a bit of a twist, however, as Supergirl season 2 will see the series move from CBS to The CW. There, the series will join fellow DC Comics shows ArrowThe Flash and DC’s Legends of Tomorrow.

Melissa Benoist leads the cast of Supergirl as both the title character and her mild mannered secret identity, Kara Danvers. The Supergirl cast also includes Mehcad Brooks as James Olsen, Laura Benanti as Alura Zor-El, Calista Flockhart as Cat Grant, Chyler Leigh as Alexandra “Alex” Danvers, Jeremy Jordan as Winslow “Winn” Schott, Jenna Dewan Tatum as Lucy Lane (sister of Lois), David Harewood as Hank Henshaw, Peter Facinelli as Maxwell Lord, with Dean Cain and Helen Slater as Kara’s adoptive parents, Jeremiah and Eliza Danvers.

Earlier this year, Supergirl crossed over with The Flash in a Supergirl episode titled “World’s Finest.” The episode established that, while Supergirl doesn’t take place in the same reality as the other CW shows, it does exist within the same interconnected multiverse. As such, the move from CBS to The CW is likely to pave the way to even more cross-series interaction moving forward. Syfy, meanwhile, has greenlit their own live-action take on the Superman mythos with the upcoming Krypton series. Set 200 years in the past, it has not yet been revealed whether or not Krypton will connect in any way with Supergirl.

Supergirl has previously aired Mondays on CBS. It has not yet been revealed whether Supergirl season 2 will retain the same timeslot.
