Kenneth Choi will play Peter Parker’s principal in next summer’s Spider-Man: Homecoming
The cast of director Jon Watt’s Spider-Man: Homecoming continues to grow today as Deadline reports that Kenneth Choi has signed on to play Peter Parker’s high school principal. The role will mark Kenneth Choi’s second character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as he previously starred as Howling Commando Jim Morita in Captain America: The First Avenger. He even went on to reprise the role in an episode of ABC‘s Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD.

Kenneth Choi joins a Spider-Man: Homecoming cast that currently includes includes Tom Holland as Peter Parker, Marisa Tomei as Aunt May, Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark, Michael Keaton as a mystery villain (believed to be the Vulture) and Zendaya as a character by the name of Michelle. There’s also mystery roles for Michael Barbieri, Laura Harrier and Tony Revolori.

“It really is a homecoming,” Tom Holland told the CinemaCon crowd during the film’s title announcement earlier this year, “because, throughout the movie, Peter is trying to find out who he is and where he belongs in this world.”
Scripted by Vacation writers and directors John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein, Spider-Man: Homecoming will, according to Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige, feature characters from throughout the MCU. Among those rumored to appear is the Tinkerer, a Spider-Man foe who originally appeared alongside the Vulture all the way back in 1963’s “The Amazing Spider-Man” #2. At the moment, no actor has officially been cast in the part, however.
Although it’s hardly a common practice, the casting of Kenneth Choi doesn’t mark the first time that an actor has played multiple roles in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Laura Hadock, for instance, appeared in both Captain America: The First Avenger and Guardians of the Galaxy while Alfre Woodard recently appeared in Civil War and is set for an alternate role in Netflix‘s upcoming Luke Cage series. Theoretically, we could even learn that Kenneth Choi’s Spider-Man character is the grandson of Jim Morita.
