Marvel Studios Offers an Avengers: Infinity War Title Update

Marvel Studios today clarifies plans for the Avengers: Infinity War title

For some time, Marvel Studios has hinted that their two-part Avengers: Infinity War will be getting new titles. Today, there’s a minor update as Walt Disney Pictures confirms that the first film will retain the Avengers: Infinity War title and that the second is now officially known as an Untitled Avengers film.

Production on the two Infinity War movies is set to begin in November of this year in Atlanta, Georgia with both movies being shot back to back. Directors Anthony and Joe Russo, who return after Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Captain America: Civil War, will direct the features.

It remains to be seen which characters will be the primary focus of the films, though we do know that Captain Marvel will appear in the movies ahead of her solo movie in 2019.

Screenwriters Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely will pen the scripts for the two features which directors Anthony and Joe Russo will film entirely in IMAX. Marvel’s Avengers: Infinity War is slated for a release in theaters on May 4, 2018. The followup will then open on May 3, 2019. Both films are now also confirmed for 3D releases.
