Captain America and Avengers’ Anthony Mackie Will Star in Synchronic

Anthony Mackie of Captain America and Avengers’ fame will be joining Jamie Dornan (50 Shades Of Gray) for an upcoming sci-fi thriller entitled Synchronic. According to Deadline, “The pair will play two New Orleans paramedics whose lives are ripped apart after encountering a series of horrific deaths linked to a designer drug with bizarre, otherworldly effects.”

Synchronic will be directed by Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead. Their previous collaboration,The Endless, was a film about two brothers who receive a weird message to visit a UFO cult they previously escaped from. However, the brothers were roped back into the mystery surrounding the cult. It sounds like Synchronic will be a spiritual successor to The Endless and having these two popular actors attached may help launch these filmmakers into the mainstream eye.

In an interview with Deadline, the directing duo said, “Being huge fans of the nuanced, brilliant work of Anthony and Jamie, this is a filmmaker’s wildest dream come true. They each possess an extraordinary depth of personal experiences, humor, and pathos that brings a massive wellspring of humanity to the battle-scarred partnership being portrayed. We’ve found the perfect collaborators to tell a bold, frightening, heartstring-tugging story.”

XYZ Films, the studio representing the film, is optimistic and excited for the duo’s fourth collaboration. XYZ told Deadline, “Their body of work thus far speaks to their confidence to go against the norm and tell genuine stories that cross genre. We’re honored to work with them again to bring Synchronic to audiences around the world.”

Mackie famously portrays Falcon in the MCU but is set to appear in Fox’s upcoming film adaptation of The Hate U Give based on the novel of the same name by Angie Thomas. Dornan’s rise to fame came from 50 Shades of Gray and was seen recently in A Private War.
