What would happen if a Superman-like alien arrives on Earth with incredibly evil intentions? Fans will know the answer to this question in less than a month, as BrightBurn soars into theaters. In the meantime, we got a new BrightBurn red band clip from IGN to taste the movie’s dark atmosphere.
The clip shows us the perils of the night shift at Brightburn Dinner. Some evil force is mysteriously testing his powers on a helpless waitress, who realizes too late that she is going to become a sacrificial lamb. Not even hiding in the refrigerator will help her out, because the force she is dealing with doesn’t come from this world. What she sees will be very painful, in more ways than one. (Be warned: this is not for the squeamish.)

BrightBurn sees producer James Gunn taking on another project involving superheroes, in this alternative take on the Superman origin story. The legendary mind behind Guardians of the Galaxy’s latest bet is that fans will turn out for a hybrid superhero horror genre flick. Director David Yarovesky is helping his longtime friend Gunn in his deed, together with his brother Mark and cousin Brian Gunn, who wrote the screenplay. After BrightBurn flies into theaters, Gunn will get back on his Suicide Squad project. Once the latter has been completed, he will make his long-awaited return to the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise.
The cast of the movie features Elizabeth Banks (The Hunger Games, Pitch Perfect) starring alongside David Denman (13 Hours, Power Rangers), Jackson A. Dunn (Shameless), Matt Jones (Mom, Home) and Meredith Hagner (Younger, Set it Up).
BrightBurn will hit theaters on May 24. Check out the new clip below. Then be sure to let us know your impressions in the comments section below.
