The BBC has released a new trailer for its upcoming fantasy series His Dark Materials. We get a closer look at Lyra, the young protagonist who is going on a journey to save some missing kids. In doing so, she will become part of something far bigger than she originally thought her adventure would be. Additionally, the trailer features also some new daemons we have never seen before. But it seems that we will still have to wait for a little longer to discover who Lyra Belacqua really is.

His Dark Materials cast also includes Dafne Keen (Logan), James McAvoy (Dark Phoenix), as well as Ruth Wilson (Luther) and Lin-Manuel Miranda (Mary Poppins Returns). In a parallel universe where all humans have animal companions called dæmons, the young Lyra, living a sheltered life among the academics at Jordan College, Oxford, discovers a dangerous secret.
Part of Philip Pullman’s novel series was transported to the big screen in The Golden Compass. The 2007 movie starred Nicole Kidman, Daniel Craig, Dakota Blue Richards, and Eva Green. Chris Weitz’s movie, though, covered just Pullman’s first novel, also called Northern Lights.
