Milestone Returns In February 2021 With Static Shock, Icon, and More!

Nearly two decades ago, Milestone Media launched a comic book imprint that introduced readers to a new generation of Black superheroes including Static, Icon, Rocket, Hardware, and more. The majority of the surviving Milestone founders have been trying to get the imprint back up and running the last few years. Regardless, the Washington Post is reporting that the Dakotaverse will be back in 2021.

As announced at DC FanDome, Milestone’s revival will commence in February 2021 with a Static Shock digital-first comic. Additionally, Reggie Hudlin and artist Kyle Baker will have a Static Shock original graphic novel later in 2021. Milestone co-founder Denys Cowan will revisit Icon and Rocket in a separate project.

To get readers ready for the revival, there will also be a Milestone Returns No. 0 one-shot as well. Fans who visit the next DC FanDome on September 12 will also be able to read it for free for 24 hours. Classic Milestone comics will be released digitally between September 2020 and February 2021.

Hudlin also noted that there are discussions about potential live-action film, TV, animated shows, and scripted podcasts are in consideration for Static and other Milestone characters. However, there’s no definitive announcement to be made at this time.
