Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire star Mckenna Grace recalls the fun and the intimidation of working with the original 1984 blockbuster’s legendary cast members.
Grace spoke to Entertainment Weekly about being on the Frozen Empire set “90 percent of the time” with stars Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson, and Annie Potts. This time around, the original team plays a more substantial role than their cameos in 2021’s Ghostbusters: Afterlife.
“Last time on Afterlife, they kind of came around at the end stretch, and we had them around for like two weeks. But this go around, it was very fun to have them on set,” Grace said. “It was really fun to be able to just get to hang out with them, hear their stories, get to know them, get to watch them ghostbust! Get to watch the OG Ghostbusters do their thing.”
Though Grace found her experience working with the cast to be a positive one, she recalls being nervous about getting the ghostbusting basics right and having to lean on the franchise icons for support.
“It was very special to be able to have [them there] — it was also very scary,” Grace admitted. “Am I holding my proton pack right in front of the guys who created it? It’s nerve-wracking but very, very special.”
