Superman director James Gunn posted the first picture of David Corenswet as the Man of Steel. Unsurprisingly, this drew considerable attention on social media. This led the production team on The Garfield Movie to rush out their own parody of the popular image.
On X, Garfield Movie producer John Cohen shared the satirical image. The poster shows the famous feline, with a red cape tied around his shoulders, looking as tired as the Man of Steel appeared in his poster. However, rather than preparing for action, the orange fat cat is reclining and squeezing a remote, apparently occupied with channel surfing.

The Garfield Movie Promises to be Big
Based on the long-running comic strip by Jim Davis, The Garfield Movie is primed to be one of the biggest family films of 2024. The comic centers around the titular cat, who loves lasagna and hates Mondays. When he is not eating and sleeping, he causes trouble for his owner, cartoonist Jon Arbuckle. While the film promises more of the comedy that made the strip a hit, it also offers an emotional core. The plot reunites Garfield with his long-lost father, who apparently abandoned him as a child.
The movie boasts an all-star cast of voice actors. Many of them, coincidentally, also have experience playing superheroes. Chris Pratt voices Garfield, with Samuel L. Jackson playing his father. The movie also features Nicholas Hoult, who is playing Lex Luthor in Superman, as the voice of Jon Arbuckle. This explains the caption attached to the poster, where Garfield asks why Jon shaved his head.
The Garfield Movie will be released in United States theaters on May 24, 2024. It is produced by Sony Entertainment, Columbia Pictures, Alcon Entertainment, Prime Focus, and Paws Inc.
