Joe Locke, one of the stars of the upcoming MCU series Agatha All Along, has responded to a popular fan theory about his character’s connection to Scarlet Witch / Wanda Maximoff. In the weeks leading up to the release of the show, the character is known simply, and enigmatically, as Teen. And, fans believe that this young boy is actually the son of Scarlet Witch.
Joe Locke provides context to his Agatha series role
Locke offered some details about his character in a recent interview. According to some of the fans, the character is supposed to be Billy (played by Julian Hilliard in WandaVision and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness), one of the imaginary sons Wanda conjured up. As a plane of existence known as the Witches’ Road will reportedly feature in the narrative of the series, the fans think that Locke’s character, Teen, wants to face its trials in the hopes of seeing his mother again.
Reflecting on his character and his journey, Locke told Total Film that Teen could be “thoughtful and kind, but he can act without thinking sometimes.” He added, “The Witches’ Road offers untold spoils and power… and then we’ll find out.” (via Games Radar+)
Although Locke didn’t offer an actual answer to the fan speculation about the origin of his character, he explained that the name “Teen,” despite being unique, is not “fake code” for something else. He continued, “It’s what everyone calls him, which is a joke that develops during the show, but just becomes what everyone calls him, and he answers to it.”
If the speculations turn out to be true, Locke is likely portraying an MCU variation of the superhero Wiccan, William “Billy” Kaplan-Altman. In the comics, Wiccan and another superhero, Speed or Thomas “Tommy” Shepherd, are the reincarnations of Wanda’s children.
Agatha All Along premieres on Disney Plus on September 18, 2024. The cast also includes Kathryn Hahn as Agatha Harkness, Sasheer Zamata as Jennifer Kale, Debra Jo Rupp as Sharon Davis, and Patti LuPone as Lilia Calderu.
