Jon Cryer cast as Lex Luthor in The CW’s Supergirl
TVLine reports that Emmy Award-winning actor Jon Cryer (Two and a Half Men) has signed on for a recurring role as the iconic DC villain Lex Luthor in The CW’s Supergirl for its fourth season. Cryer is also no stranger to the DC universe as he first appeared in the 1987 film Superman IV: The Quest for Peace. He portrayedLenny Luthor, Lex Luthor’s nephew.
“We are enormous fans of Jon Cryer, and he was instantly our dream actor to play the iconic role of Lex Luthor,” Executive producers Robert Rovner and Jessica Queller said in a statement. “Jon is a super-talent, and the fact that he played Lenny Luthor in ‘Superman IV’ brings an added layer of legacy to his casting. We’re beyond thrilled to welcome Jon to the Supergirl family.”
Superman’s biggest mortal enemy is scheduled to arrived at National City in the latest season’s fifteenth episode that is set to air in 2019.

Supergirl stars Melissa Benoist as Kara Danvers/Supergirl. Mehcad Brooks also stars as James Olsen, with Chyler Leigh as Alex Danvers, and Jeremy Jordan as Winslow ‘Winn’ Schott. Additionally, Katie McGrath portrays Lena Luthor, alongside Jess Rath as Brainiac 5, and David Harewood as Hank Henshaw/J’onn J’onnz. Sam Witwer joined the cast in season 4 as Agent Liberty. Rhona Mitra also appears as Mercy Graves, while Bruce Boxleitner recurs as Vice President Baker.
Berlanti Productions and Warner Bros. Television produce Supergirl for The CW. Additionally, Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter, Robert Rovner and Jessica Queller are the executive producers.
