The first episode of Runaways season two re-introduced us to the characters fans have come to love and hate. The second episode, “Radio On,“ makes some bold moves. It also delivers some powerful emotional arcs for some favorite characters and adds some new mysteries to the show.
Settling Into a Family Routine
The Runaways feel the same earthquake that Jonah and Karolina experienced. While they worry that their new hide-out will come down on them, Jonah teaches Karolina how to use her powers without her bracelet. Jonah also teases that Karolina will be meeting her “family” very soon without revealing just what she is. Nico starts to form a search party as Karolina returns to the mansion. Nico and the group plan to destroy the dig site from the first season. They also decide to steal the staff of one from Nico’s mother. After a short argument, Molly brings the group together and they learn that Alex is working for Darius.
The Pride also plans on destroying the dig site. Victor Stein’s wife, Janet, wants to help Jonah and Victor build a box to heal them both. Meanwhile, Karolina, Nico, and Molly head to Nico’s house. They use Karolina’s powers to destroy the smart house’s computer. Once inside they run into Nico’s father – and her mother – who is wielding the Staff of One.
Nico vs. Tina
Alex returns to Darius’ house to help him move, reconnecting him with Livvie. Darius gives him a computer and Alex stays for dinner. Meanwhile, Gert and Chase attempt to get the power back on in the mansion. Chase discovers a Rolls-Royce, as he and Gert decide that they are officially together. Meanwhile, Nico and Tina battle each other. Tina uses the Staff of One to trap Molly in the Minoru’s pool, leading Karolina to melt the ice to free her.
Tina defeats Nico and offers her a choice. Either she can come home, or she can take the Staff of One and never return. Nico chooses to take the Staff and leave her parents. Her parents are shocked by that decision. Nico and Karolina end up arguing, leaving the group broken and angry as they returns to the mansion.
Turning on the Power
While Nico wants to push to train harder and Alex has his hair done by Livvie, the PRIDE remain at work. Alex’s father, Geoffrey, and Janet talk about an ancient book tied to their rituals. They both want to use it to understand Jonah. Gert and Chase turn the power in the mansion on after confront power company employees. After Livvie finishes Alex’s hair, the two of them share a kiss and promise to see each other again.
Over dinner at the mansion, Nico says that she wants to train. The group agrees as Alex returns. Everyone picks their own bedrooms and settles into their new home.
Radio On
Karolina asks for Nico’s forgiveness and the two of them talk before hugging and deciding to stay in the same room. Meanwhile, Gert tries to talk to Molly, but she wants to be alone. When Gert leaves, Molly puts on a track suit and a mask. She leaves through a broken window. Elsewhere, Janet is trying to figure out Jonah’s book. Gregory gets a call from Darius, and he offers a hint about Alex’s whereabouts.
