Emilia Clarke on the Game of Thrones Finale: I Stand by Daenerys

Warning: There are spoilers ahead for the Game of Thrones finale!

After nearly a decade the HBO series, Game of Thrones has reached its conclusion, and the final character to suddenly depart from the series was none other than Daenerys of House Targaryen. The Breaker of Chains killed at the hands of Jon Snow, who was also madly in love with her. Of course, it complicated things when he learned she was his aunt.

Speaking with Entertainment Weekly, star Emilia Clarke revealed that she doesn’t feel sorry for Jon Snow at all.

“Um, he just doesn’t like women does he?” said Clarke. “He keeps f—king killing them. No. If I were to put myself in his shoes I’m not sure what else he could have done aside from … oh, I dunno, maybe having a discussion with me about it? Ask my opinion? Warn me? It’s like being in the middle of a phone call with your boyfriend and they just hang up and never call you again. ‘Oh, this great thing happened to me at work today — hello?’ And that was 9 years ago…”

Clarke also spoke about her final moments as the Mother of Dragons, describing them as “beautiful and touching.”

“I thought she was going to die, I feel very taken care of as a character in that sense. It’s a very beautiful and touching ending. Hopefully, what you’ll see in that last moment as she’s dying is: There’s the vulnerability — there’s the little girl you met in season 1. See? She’s right there. And now, she’s not there anymore…But having said all of the things I’ve just said…I stand by Daenerys, I stand by her! I can’t not.”
