Report: Rosamund Pike May Join Amazon’s Wheel of Time Series

Amazon Prime has a slew of big-name book adaptations in the works. But with the recently released Good Omens and upcoming Lord of the Rings series, they appear to be paying special attention to the fantasy genre. Now, it looks like the streaming service is finally making headway on their next big fantasy series. Discussing Film reports that Rosamund Pike has entered talks to join Amazon’s adaptation of The Wheel of Time novels.

If everything works out, Pike will headline the show as Moiraine, part of a sisterhood known as the Aes Sedai. Moiraine travels across the world with five young people in tow. However, one of them might be destined to hold the key to humanity’s survival or its destruction.

Pike is best known for starring as Amy Dunne in Gone Girl in 2014. That role earned her an Academy Award nomination for Best Actress. Her other film roles include Die Another Day, A Private War, and Pride & Prejudice. More recently, she has appeared on SundanceTV’s State of the Union miniseries. Pike has also lent her voice to Netflix’s Watership Down series and Amazon’s Thunderbirds Are Go.

He began the series with The Eye of the World, and went on to release 10 sequels and one prequel before his death in 2007. Three additional installments were completed by author Brandon Sanderson and released between 2009 and 2013.

Rafe Judkins is writing and executive producing The Wheel of Time series for Amazon. Uta Briesewitz, a veteran of Jessica Jones, Fear the Walking Dead, and Westworld, will direct the first two episodes.
