Gina Carano Reveals More About Her Character in the Mandalorian

As a mixed martial artist-turned-action star, Gina Carano certainly knows her way around a fight. Anyone who’s seen her in films like Deadpool and Fast & Furious 6 can attest to her ass-kicking ability. Now, Carano is about to make her Star Wars debut on The Mandalorian, and it looks like she’ll be providing the title character with some much-needed assistance on the show.

Carano co-stars on the series as Cara Dune, another Mandalorian bounty hunter who once served the Rebel Alliance as a Shock Trooper. Eventually, she began traversing the galaxy as a mercenary for hire. While speaking with Entertainment Weekly, Carano shared that meeting Pedro Pascal’s masked protagonist heralds a big change in her character’s fortunes.

“She’s gone from planet to planet,” said Carano. “She’s a loner [and] she’s strong. She runs into the Mandalorian on one of these planets that she’s hiding out on and thinks that he’s there to take her in and then their relationship escalates from there.”

Carano’s remarks suggest that Cara is on the run from an unknown adversary. Unfortunately, the actress didn’t specify who this might be. Given her status as a mercenary who presumably doesn’t align herself with either the New Republic or the Empire’s remnants, it seems likely that she’s made a lot of enemies over the years. It also sounds like she’s hinting at a possible romance between Cara and Pascal’s character. However, we won’t find out if this is the case until The Mandalorian premieres on November 12.

Additionally, EW has shared a new photo that shows Cara and the titular Mandalorian fighting alongside each other. You can check out the image for yourself at the link above.
