ABC and Kevin Feige In Talks For New Marvel Superhero TV Series

Marvel has several new small-screen projects in the works over at Disney+. But apparently, the studio isn’t ready to say goodbye to network TV just yet. Deadline is reporting that ABC is currently speaking with Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige about developing a new superhero series for the network.

ABC Entertainment President Karey Burke shared this news during the winter TCA press tour. However, she was quick to point out that it’s still early in the process and they haven’t even decided on which characters to use.

“We love our partners at Marvel and we’re sad to see [Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.] go,” said Burke. “It’s been a big part of our history. We’re looking forward to working with Kevin Feige and we’re at the very beginning of conversations with him now about what a Marvel and ABC show might look like. Right now, Marvel’s focus has been on Disney+, as it should be.”

Marvel began its relationship with ABC when Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. premiered in 2013. That series will close out its seven season run this summer. ABC also produced Marvel’s Agent Carter series, which didn’t fare as well. The show lasted for two seasons before it was cancelled in 2016. Regardless, Marvel Studios cemented Agent Carter‘s place in the MCU canon when James D’Arcy reprised his role as Edwin Jarvis in Avengers: Endgame.

If the project is greenlit, it will be ABC’s first Marvel series to air following the company’s restructuring under Feige’s new role as Chief Creative Officer. Las month, it was confirmed that Marvel Studios has formally absorbed Marvel Television. Longtime EVP Jeph Loeb is also expected to vacate his position in the near future.
