Netflix Releases Locke & Key From Comic To Screen Featurette

Netflix Drops Locke & Key From Comic To Screen Featurette

With the first season of Locke & Key premiering early next month, Netflix has debuted a new featurette showcasing its journey from comic to screen. The video, seen below, features a number of people behind the ambitious adaptation of Joe Hill and Gabriel Rodriguez’s comic.  Showrunners Carlton Cuse and Meredith Averill also discuss the challenges of adapting the show as well.

One particular part of the comic that the team focuses is the Head Key. Averill said the Head Key is among the show’s most “challenging aspects.” Rather than simply opening up someone’s actual head, it lets you “walk into your own brain” and even change things around. The video breaks this down with a quick clip from the series, featuring a rather colorful archive.

Here’s the official synopsis for Locke & Key, as provided by Netflix:

After their father is murdered under mysterious circumstances, the three Locke siblings and their mother move into their ancestral home, Keyhouse, which they discover is full of magical keys that may be connected to their father’s death. As the Locke children explore the different keys and their unique powers, a mysterious demon awakens—and will stop at nothing to steal them.”

Locke & Key premieres on February 7 on Netflix.
