Strange Things Are Happening in This Tales From the Loop Trailer

Amazon has debuted a new trailer for its upcoming sci-fi series, Tales From the Loop. Based on the acclaimed art of Swedish artist Simon Stålenhag, which also developed into narrative books, the series will follow the bizarre adventures of the inhabitants of a Midwest town set above a supermassive particle accelerator. Once the Loop starts working, strange things begin to happen, things that defy the physics’ laws.

Stålenhag’s work has also developed into a tabletop role-playing game. It’s set in the 1980s, and the protagonists are a bunch of teenagers dealing with the aftermath of the Loop. It’s no wonder many fans are already saying that this is Amazon’s response to Netflix’s Stranger Things.

Tales From the Loop explores the town and people who live above “The Loop,” a machine built to unlock and explore the mysteries of the universe, making things possible that were previously relegated only to science fiction. Rebecca Hall (The Town) stars, with Paul Schneider (Parks and Recreation), Daniel Zolghadri (Eighth Grade), as well as Duncan Joiner (Waco) and Jonathan Pryce (Game of Thrones).

The show comes from writer Nathaniel Halpern (LegionThe Killing), director Mark Romanek (One Hour PhotoNever Let Me Go), together with Matt Reeves’ 6th & Idaho, and Swedish production and management company Indio. Fox 21 Television Studios is co-producing with Amazon Studios. Halpern, Romanek, and Reeves will serve as executive producers alongside Adam Kassan and Rafi Crohn (The Passage). Indio’s Mattias Montero, Samantha Taylor Pickett, Adam Berg, and Stålenhag will also executive produce.

Tales From the Loop will be available on Prime Video starting April 3. What do you think about the Tales From the Loop trailer? Have you seen the books by Simon Stålenhag? Let us know in the comments section below.
