Warning: There are spoilers ahead for WandaVision episode 4!
Now, we’re getting somewhere. The first few episodes of WandaVision were somewhat evasive about what’s really happening in Westview. But now, some of the bigger picture has emerged. Disney+ has premiered the fourth episode of WandaVision, and we want to know what the Superhero Hype community thinks about it!
Concurrent with the events of Avengers: Endgame, Monica Rambeau reappears in the present five years after she was “snapped” out of existence by Thanos. She wasn’t alone. As Thanos’ snap was undone, Monica was in a hospital filled with other people who suddenly returned from oblivion. However, Monica soon learned that her mother, Maria, died from cancer two years before her revival. Additionally, viewers discovered that Maria co-founded S.W.O.R.D., the Sentient Weapon Observation and Response Division. In the decades since we last saw her in Captain Marvel, Monica followed in her mother’s footsteps and became a S.W.O.R.D. agent as well.
Three weeks after Endgame, Monica resumed field duty for S.W.O.R.D., and reluctantly accepted a missing persons case. Monica travelled to Westview, New Jersey and met FBI agent Jimmy Woo. Jimmy demonstrated a phenomenon that cut off Westview from the rest of the world. Somehow, everyone with a personal connection with Westview also forgot about its existence. Soon after, Monica vanished while examining the barrier around the town.

24 hours later, Dr. Darcy Lewis and other experts were escorted to the site by S.W.O.R.D. agents. Shortly thereafter, Darcy also discovered that signals were being sent from Westview. Within the “real” MCU, WandaVision‘s sitcom episodes were actually broadcast on old TV frequencies. From this, Darcy and Jimmy were able to immediately identify Wanda and Vision. Most of the townspeople were also identified. Curiously, no one seems to know who Agnes is.
Soon after, Darcy and Jimmy recognize Monica as a background character in the show. As “Geraldine,” Monica befriends Wanda and she is present for the birth of her children. But Monica blew her cover when she mentioned that Ultron killed Wanda’s brother, Pietro. For the first time, we see Wanda use her powers to physically expel Monica from Westview. She also used her abilities to hide the evidence from Vision.
Wanda briefly saw Vision’s dead body when he reentered their home. But Wanda quickly restored the illusion of Vision’s life, and they watched TV together with their new twins. Outside of Westview, Monica said “it’s all Wanda” while lying dazed in the grass.
WandaVision‘s first four episodes are on Disney+. The fifth episode will debut on Friday, February 5.
