Sam Quotes Steve Rogers in a New Teaser For The Falcon and the Winter Soldier

With WandaVision winding down, Marvel is gearing up for the premiere of its next live-action series on Disney+. Today marks one month until Sam Wilson and Bucky Barnes return in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. Now, the studio is celebrating that milestone with a new teaser for the show. It doesn’t reveal much that we haven’t seen in previous trailers.  But what it lacks in new footage, it makes up for in callbacks to one of Sam’s earlier big-screen adventures.

The clip includes some new voiceover work from Sam, who references one of Steve Rogers’ most important lines from Captain America: The Winter Soldier, which also happens to be the film that officially brought Sam into the MCU. Just like Steve did in the movie, Sam sounds like he’s speaking into some kind of PA system as he delivers his remarks: “The price of freedom is high. It always will be.”

The Falcon and the Winter Soldier features Sam and Bucky forging a new partnership following the events of Avengers: Endgame. But more importantly, it shows Sam coming to terms with his new responsibilities as the new Captain America. Showrunner Malcolm Spellman has said that part of his character arc explores how the public reacts to a Black man wielding Steve’s iconic shield and becoming a symbol of freedom and liberty. As he embarks on his own personal journey, Sam will also team up with Bucky against Zemo, with Daniel Brühl reprising his role from Captain America: Civil War. The pair will also encounter a new threat in the form of Wyatt Russell’s U.S. Agent.

The Falcon and the Winter Soldier hits Disney+ on March 19.
