Hulu Announces a May Premiere Date For Marvel’s M.O.D.O.K.

At long last, the Mental Organism Designed Only for Killing is coming to Hulu. A stop-motion animated series starring one of the Avengers’ most recognizable adversaries has been in the works for two years. But earlier today, Marvel revealed that M.O.D.O.K. will finally premiere its first season on May 21. The streaming service also confirmed the announcement with a new trailer for the upcoming show.

In addition to voicing the title character, Patton Oswalt also co-created the series with Jordan Blum. Marvel’s M.O.D.O.K. follows the big-headed supervillain as we’ve never seen him before: a family man. After A.I.M. goes bankrupt and he’s ousted from his role as the organization’s top dog, M.O.D.O.K. struggles to balance his goal of world domination with maintaining his relationship with his wife and two children. He must also deal with A.I.M.’s new parent company, GRUMBL, which ties up his plans for destruction in a never-ending web of corporate red tape.

Marvel and Hulu originally announced M.O.D.O.K. in 2019, along with three other animated series whose characters would eventually team up in an Offenders crossover special. But since Hulu axed its Howard the Duck and Tigra & Dazzler shows last year, it’s safe to say that this is no longer happening. The only other series to survive the purge was Hit-Monkey. Regardless, it’s been ages since either Marvel or Hulu provided an update on that project.

Oswalt leads a cast that includes Aimee Garcia as M.O.D.O.K.’s wife, Jodie, Ben Schwartz as his son, Lou, and Melissa Fumera as his daughter, Melissa. The series also features the voices of Wendi McLendon-Covey, Beck Bennett, Jon Daly, and Sam Richardson.
