WandaVision Creator Explains Why White Vision Didn’t [Spoiler]

Warning: There are spoilers ahead for the WandaVision season finale!

One of the highlights of WandaVision‘s finale was the battle of the Visions. Wanda’s Vision faced off against White Vision, A.K.A. the original Vision who was reactivated by S.W.O.R.D. agents. After reaching a meeting of the minds with his counterpart, Wanda’s Vision restored White Vision’s memories. However, White Vision didn’t appear again after that scene. That left some viewers wondering why didn’t he stay and help the woman he professed to love in his earlier life.

While speaking with Entertainment Tonight, WandaVision showrunner and creator Jac Schaeffer made it clear. White Vision may have all of his old memories, but he’s not the same Vision that Wanda knew.

“The way that we approached it is…he has the data, but that’s not her guy,” said Schaeffer. “That’s not the father of her children. That’s not the man that she’s been in the sitcom world with. At bare minimum, White Vision? Not funny. I don’t know where the characters are going to go, and in the superhero space, I relish that the storylines, like, you’re like, ‘Well, that can continue.’ But that it’s going to be something different. The Vision that she said goodbye to, that’s a complete goodbye. That’s a period on that sentence.”

“It wasn’t about the directive of, where do we leave White Vision? That wasn’t the focus,” added Schaeffer. “The focus was, how do you resolve the problem of two Visions fighting each other? Where does that end? They’ll just be fighting each other until the end of time. It became clear to us that it’s got to be a logic battle, right? You’ve got two Synthezoids with the exact same programming. It’s going to come down to logic.”

Wanda will return in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. However, it’s unclear when the surviving Vision will resurface in the MCU.

WandaVision‘s complete season is on Disney+. Assembled: The Making of WandaVision will debut on Friday, March 12.
